Welcome to the latest edition of Kerrygold Moos Online. I’d like to start off by thanking you all for your efforts throughout what has been a busy and challenging 2006.

Natural Cheese Capacity Increased

The year started with the decision that after many years of decline, the time was right for Kerrygold to exit the processed cheese market. However, this in turn created an opportunity as production space was made available for the company to expand its natural cheese capacity, and by April additional business was bought into the factory following the successful negotiation of an exclusive contract packing agreement with the Irish dairy co-operative, Dairygold.

Record Outputs

Furthermore, the company has secured additional new business throughout the year with a number of retailers which has led to record outputs from the factory.

Brand New Factory

I am also delighted to announce that approval has been granted by our parent company to build a brand new state of the art factory on our existing site over the course of the next two years (subject to planning approval). This not only secures Kerrygold’s future in Leek, but also will provide us with additional capacity enabling further growth of the business in the years to come. Look out for future issues of the Moos for more information on this breaking news.

In signing off, I'd like to thank you once again for all your support during 2oo6 and wish you and your families a great Christmas and prosperous New Year.
