Brian followed his father Ruben’s footsteps by joining the then Adams Dairies straight from school at the end of 1956. He worked as a driver’s mate before Adams arranged for him to secure his own licence to drive.

Throughout the 1960’s Brian worked for the Company’s prestigious distribution fleet delivering butter all over the UK at a time when each shop or store had its own delivery.

Brian often worked the Devon and Cornwall trip, leaving Leek early on a Monday morning and not returning home until Friday afternoon. He also worked on the North Wales trip which involved deliveries to every Kwik Save store along the coast, totalling over 30!

Brian later swapped a life on the road by moving to the Springfield Road factory (now the site of the Somerfield store). He worked for a number of years in the packet butter store and palletising areas before relocating to Sunnyhills Road in 1990. Here, he worked again in the palletising area before completing his exemplary service in Returns.

Brian recalls collecting his 30 Year Long Service Award at the same time that his Father was collecting his 50 Year Award at a Company function held in Longton.
